The "Old Rectory" in Epworth. This is the restored rectory that Samuel Wesley had built at a cost to the parish of $800,000 in today's money. The people of Epworth had burned the first house out from under the Wesleys because of Samuel's extreme unpopularity. John Wesley almost died as a child in the fire.

Just 'surfing' and found your reference to Epworth Old Rectory. I've just come back from there! The Curator is away visiting WMC in Lake Junaluska, and then going on to Epworth by the Sea, GA. I am looking after the Rectory while she is away. What a privilege to be in the place where Samuel, Susanna, John, Charles and all the others lived and worked and learned and prayed.
I have just completed a new website for the Rectory - www.epwortholdrectory.org.uk
